Then you will need to see if there is power to the solenoid. With a test light you can check the BIG wire on the starter solenoid.

Loosen the nut on the oil pump, pull the oil pump drive gear off. Slide the reluctor wheel assembly off. You MIGHT have to 'clearance' the mating surface on the upper oil pan.

Flip the engine, oil pans off, pop all the rod caps off and push the pistons up in the cylinders, pop the main caps off. Putting it back together is tricky, but still possible. After consulting with many folks who work on Duramaxes that seems to be the only common issue with broken cranks is the possibility that the balancer has gone bad. Hopefully will pull it and see what exactly went when I get the truck back.
