When comparing the two with a fully loaded 10-rnd mag in both, it works out to about a 11.7% reduction in loaded weight (30.16 oz vs 33.69 oz). With the SF, aside from the obvious selection of magazines you can use (which applies to both guns as the 30S uses the SF frame), the ability to convert to different calibers is a huge plus. With my 30SF, I've got .45ACP, 10mm, and .40 S&W available with no more than a 10mm conversion barrel and 10mm mags.The G30 is an incredible and capable platform, but there are a few different versions and you need to know what each one is capable of. The G30S is an incredible carry gun, but it has very little aftermarket support (when compared to other Glocks, lol), but changing calibers is difficult because of the G36 slide.. If all you want to do is carry a subcompact double-stack .45, yes, get the G30S.

Why I chose a Glock 30SF. I had a G26 Gen 4 that I carried CCW for a while. It was fine and very usable but I really prefer the Gen 3 grip to the Gen 4 texture and the large magazine release really dug into me with IWB carry. Glock reduced the backstrap circumference just a teeny bit. I reach the 30 fine, but the 30 sf seems awesome feeling to me. The G30 (32.50MM wide) is just a little bit wider than the G26 (30MM wide). What I would also consider is most put an extension on the G26 which makes the grip the same length as the 19/30 with facotry extension.

It is my understanding that the Gen 4 models without any backstrap installed has the same reach as the SF frames. I like the 30s and find it to be a great carry gun.
